OUR PROGRAMMES
Group Piano Lessons at Our London Music School
Our group piano lessons are the most popular programme at our London music school — and once you see a class in action, it’s easy to understand why. Students learn faster when surrounded by others at the same level. The nerves drop. The motivation picks up. And there’s something genuinely enjoyable about making music together rather than practising alone.
We keep class sizes small deliberately. Every student gets direct teacher feedback. Lessons cover technique, sight-reading, theory, and real repertoire — not just scales for six months before anything interesting happens. See our full music programmes for all available formats and age groups.
🎹
CHILDREN FROM AGE 4
Fun, structured classes that build rhythm, confidence, and real piano skills from day one.
🎵
ADULT BEGINNERS
No experience needed. Learn alongside others at the same level in a relaxed, supportive setting.
🏆
EXAM PREPARATION
ABRSM or Trinity grades with teachers who know exactly what examiners look for.
FOR GROWN-UPS
Piano Classes for Adults — London Music School
A lot of our adult students say the same thing when they first get in touch: “I’ve always wanted to learn, but I left it too late.” They haven’t. Our adults at this London music school range from people in their 30s picking up an instrument for the first time, to people in their 60s returning to piano after decades away. Both do well. Neither feels out of place.
Adult piano classes are built around your schedule and your goals. If you want ABRSM grades, we can do that. If you just want to play songs you actually enjoy, that works too. Evening and weekend slots available. No pressure, no comparison, no expectation that you’ll practise three hours a day.
The adults who make the most progress are the ones who show up every week — not the ones with the most natural talent.

WHY EXCELSIS
Why Families Choose This London Music School
We’ve been running this London music school for over 20 years. In that time we’ve worked with thousands of students — from children who couldn’t tell a crotchet from a quaver, to adults who’d convinced themselves they were tone-deaf (they weren’t). A few things stay consistent: teachers who care, small groups, honest feedback, and regular concerts where students actually use what they’ve been working on.
All teachers go through a rigorous selection process — qualifications, experience, and a DBS check. We don’t take on teachers who are technically good but can’t connect with students. Playing well and teaching well are different skills, and we look for both. Meet our teaching team to see who you’d be learning from.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions — London Music School
Is Excelsis the best music school in London for beginners?
We’re one of North London’s longest-established music schools, with dedicated beginner programmes for every age from 0 to adult. Our structured approach means students see real progress quickly, regardless of starting level.
What age can children start at your London music school?
Musicianship classes start from birth. Instrument lessons begin around age 4–5, depending on the child and instrument chosen.
Are group piano lessons suitable for beginners?
Yes — most of our group classes are designed for beginners. Students are grouped by level, so nobody is sitting in a class where everyone else is miles ahead.
Is this an affordable music school in London?
Group lessons are a genuinely affordable way to learn — you get qualified teacher guidance at a lower cost per session than individual tuition. Contact us for current pricing and availability.
Do I need a piano at home before starting adult lessons?
A basic digital keyboard is fine to start. You don’t need a full piano. We’ll advise on what’s worth buying at each stage.
