Performance Opportunities

More Than Music Lessons

At The Excelsis School of Music, we believe that performance is an essential part of a well-rounded music education. Pupils are given regular opportunities throughout the year to perform individually, make music with others and share their music with different audiences.

From solo performances and duets to choirs, ensembles, community events and larger showcases, our varied performance programme enables pupils to develop confidence, musicianship, collaboration and valuable real-world performance experience.

Performance isn’t simply an occasional extra at Excelsis Music – it is an important part of learning to become a confident, expressive and well-rounded musician.

Different Ways to Perform

Excelsis Music Live

Our professional teaching team comes together to perform live music across a variety of genres and styles for the wider community. It also gives pupils and families the opportunity to see their teachers as performing musicians.

Spotlight Concerts

Our termly Spotlight Concerts celebrate individual effort, progress and achievement. Pupils are nominated by their teachers for the opportunity to perform individually in a supportive concert environment.

Music in the Community

Music in the Community takes pupils' music beyond the traditional concert setting, providing opportunities to perform for different audiences and experience the joy of sharing music within the wider community.

Community Fundraising Concert

A larger community event bringing musicians together through choir, string ensemble, duets, trios and other ensemble performances, while using music to support fundraising and give back to the wider community.

Annual Music Showcase

Our end-of-year celebration and the culmination of the Excelsis performance programme. The Annual Music Showcase focuses on collaborative music-making, bringing together our Choir, String Ensemble, duets, trios and other pupil ensembles.

Learning to Make Music Together

At The Excelsis School of Music, pupils are encouraged not only to develop as individual musicians, but also to experience the enjoyment and challenge of making music with others.

Throughout the year, pupils may have opportunities to participate in duets, trios, sibling collaborations, choirs, string ensembles and mixed-instrument performances.

Collaborative music-making develops skills that cannot always be learnt through solo playing alone. Pupils learn to listen to one another, communicate musically, keep together, balance their sound, lead, follow and work as a team – all important elements of becoming a rounded musician.
